Ben received his B.S. in psychology from Radford University in 1993. Upon graduation, he worked for three years as a social studies teacher in Accomack County, Virginia. In 1997, he returned home to Pulaski County, Virginia where he was employed as a special education teacher for six years. After completing his M.S. in special education from Radford University in 2002, he became a consultant for the Radford University T/TAC. In July of 2003, he became the Secondary Project Coordinator for the Radford University T/TAC. In April of 2004, Ben joined the staff here at the Virginia Tech T/TAC as a High Incidence Disability Coordinator. He has recently completed the requirements to become a SIM professional developer for the University of Kansas Center for Research on Learning.
Ben is responsible for providing instructional strategies training and technical assistance to educators who serve students with high incidence disabilities in Regions 6 and 7. Ben's areas of interest include research-based instructional strategies, sustainability, learning disabilities, ADD/ADHD, transition, and universal design.
