Martha Ann began working at T/TAC in the spring of 2005. She spent her previous 23 years with Montgomery County Public Schools. She was a middle school reading specialist, middle school math teacher, and a general elementary teacher. She then served as the Supervisor of Staff Development for Montgomery County Public Schools from the fall of 1999 until she took the T/TAC position.
Martha Ann has her B.S. in elementary education from Eastern Kentucky University, a M.S. in reading instruction from Michigan State University, and an Ed.D. in curriculum and instruction from Virginia Tech. She is a graduate of the National Staff Development Council Academy X . She is the current Region Seven board representative for the Virginia Staff Development Council.
Martha Ann has two children – Elliott and Charley-Anne. Her daughter, Charley-Anne Piersol, is an elementary classroom teacher. Her husband, Charlie, is a Dairy Science Professor at Virginia Tech.
