Back to School 2020 Professional Learning Opportunities

This new recorded webinar is a follow-up from our virtual day with Michael Kennedy on explicit instruction in the virtual world.  Michael will respond to questions posed around how to lesson plan for remote instruction. He will share the background research on cognitive load and how important it is to keep in mind when planning for all students, but in particular our students with disabilities and marginal learners. These needs are only amplified during this time of added stress to both teachers and our students. The video is accompanied with a part 4 discussion guide and outline for your use if you are watching by yourself, with a co-teaching partner, with your department, your grade level, or faculty.

We are excited to have VDOE School Counseling Specialist and Student Assistance Coordinator Sarah Bazemore join us for a virtual chat about what you need to make this year a success. We know that there are and will be many new challenges, so let’s spend some time together talking about supports and resources that can best help you.

In order for us to maximize our time & target what is at the top of your list, please take a moment to fill out this very brief survey.  Please help us by sharing this with your Region 6 & 7 school counseling colleagues so everyone has the opportunity to join. We are stronger together!

This school year may include both in-person instruction and virtual instruction.  For teachers of students with complex disabilities, virtual instruction can be challenging.  In this one-hour live webinar, we are going to introduce several easy-to-use internet-based learning tools and show ways that they can be incorporated into the virtual and in-person instruction of students with complex disabilities.  Each tool will be described, including pros and cons, and participants will be able to view examples of materials created using these tools.
